We are very proud of the high standard of our catering, We offer breakfast, lunch (packed if going ashore) and a three course evening meal. Between times you can get coffee, tea and biscuits whenever you wish. Please specify any particular dietary requirements on booking. Vegetarians are welcome (David is one!). We do try to use fresh produce whenever possible, and local seafood when available.

Painting and Photography Hobby Trips

Tutored trips for Water Colourists and Photographers in 2009

Yes in 2009 we will be offering 2 weeks in August and a week in May and September where we will be accompanied by Sue Ford (Artist) or Chris Mason (Photographer). These trips will give the aspiring Artists and Photographers amongst you the opportunity to not only enjoy the cruise in its own right, but also to improve your painting or photographic skills.

So book early as these weeks are likely to be snapped up.

These trips are more expensive than our normal trips, but included in the price is the on board expertise of either Sue or Chris and as well as your meals being included we will also throw in a bottle of wine with your evening meals.

Sue Ford is an experienced artist/tutor. We are delighted to welcome Sue to tutor a
Course with Guidliner in August 2009, she will be working with watercolour
Pen and wash and pastel, she will provide expert guidance, demonstrations and personal
Tuition, explain the importance of composition and getting the best from your
Sketch book and photos, lots of encouragement and patient understanding. You’ll benefit

holiday will provide inspiration, from wildlife, Scotland’s stunning
scenery and the chance to get to places usually inaccessible on the west coast

Sue’s work has been exhibited for The Marine Society (RSMA) and The Women’s Society, Mall Galleries, London. Also in many galleries and private collections.
Solo exhibitions at Washington Wild Life Centre and Danby Visitor Centre.
Sue has written several painting articles for Leisure Painter and The Paint Magazines.

Chris Mason has been working as a commercial photographer and tutor for many years. Chris will be joining us to tutor courses in May and September 2009, he will be working with digital cameras (although you can bring your film camera if you like). Chris will provide expert guidance, demonstrations and one to one tuition, explain the practice of composition, lens choice, exposure control and how to get the best from your camera along with a good deal of encouragement and practical tips.

Of course you’ll benefit from being part of a small group with the tutors captive attention. This unique cruise will through, Scotland’s stunning scenery and access to normally inaccessible places on the west coast, help to develop your wildlife, landscape and general photography skills.

If you have a laptop, bring this along to work on your image editing skills.
A suggested equipment list can be provided on booking.

Chris has worked as a commercial photographer since 1982 and has run his own business since 1988. He has built up a large client base over the last 20 years and works across the UK. Chris has taught (part time) photography skills at both York and Ripon Colleges through weekly classes and weekend workshops for many years.
